Speedway Centre for the Arts is the rising star of Main St. in Speedway. Bringing in fresh new faces from across the city and bringing the world of arts and entertainment to a small town with a big name.
Speedway's art gallery has displayed art from Douglas David and Joe Vondersaar, both national, award winning artists. And most recently featured the work of Lindsey Tull, an up and coming artist from the Indy area.
Main St.'s newly renovated face is a beautiful site to see and an attraction to families, couples, 20 something's and even the athletes you will find jogging or biking the stretch. There are new restaurants, Foyt Wine Vault, Dare Devil Brewery, vintage shops, hair salons, and soon the new home to Big Woods Pizza and Quaff On! Brewery. The Speedway Art Council has tapped into what the community was missing, the entertainment factor. Hosting events from artist meet and greet soirees to their upcoming porch party, a Speedway tradition.
The Porch Party on May 13th will be the open house to their impressive collection of racing programs from over the last 100 years. In collaboration with Indianapolis Motor Speedway and The Speedway Public Library, roughly 70 programs will be displayed. The event is family friendly and free to the public.
